For Elite Dangerous however, I use a Saitek X56 HOTAS setup. I switched from console to pc last year, I used the same Xbox one controller for both, I noticed the deadzone and/or acceleration curve is kinda janky on pc compared to playing on console, still playable though.
Stable, weighted base. Knows its place. An extensive study has shown that having a joystick sliding all over the place in the thick of the action is detrimental to performance. The heavy base will hold fast without tipping for lifting while you do your thing. From acrobatic dogfights to long-range strikes, this precise joystick gives you the edge.
I use. Left Stick = X lats, Y verts (inverted), Z fwd/back, Right Stick = X roll, Y pitch (inverted), Z yaw. The inverts are so pulling back on R = nose up, pulling back on L = ship up. The benefit of using the twist for fwd/back on left is that you retain equal scale movements on your verts/lats, rather than having the shorter-throw twist on

TL;DR: Personally, using a T-Flight HOTAS X made huge difference between barely controlable and enjoyable, but it all comes down to the individual comfort and intuition. If you're struggling with mouse and keyboard, then you might want to consider getting HOTAS (or a 360 controller, or dual joysticks). 3.

MaGicBush Jan 28, 2021 @ 6:35pm. Thrustmaster 16000m flight pack setup. So I got my new HOTAS as I found it on sale for the whole package (throttle, pedals, and joystick). I downloaded and installed the drivers, and the throttle, joystick, and pedals are all working fine in windows (it already feels better than the cheap one I had).
