Nope, pretty straight forward, single overhead cam water pump tensioner and crank, I did mine a few weeks ago, would definitely change the water pump too whilst you're there as its driven off the timing belt (don't know if you know this already just thought I'd throw it out there) the water pump is a bit of an area to be honest got to remove the alternator and mounting plate to access the pipe

Renault Clio II (1998 - 2001) - 99 1.2 broken cambelt means engine change. My daughter's clio has knackered engine due to cambelt failure. Yes folks that a renault, 6 years old, 50k miles and. its had a new seat belt switch as the only thing. thats gone wrong.
Hi, Yes, the timing belt is replaced on a mileage and time basis. 5 years is recommended - regardless of mileage. I'd advise using a Renault-specific independent, if not using a main dealer. There's nothing 'magic' about the timing belt on these 16V engines, but a strict procedure must be adhered to if grief is to be avoided.

I have contacted Renaullt customer services and they have confirmed that the timing belt and rollers on my 2007 Clio Campus Sport 1.5 DCi should be changed every 96,000 miles or every 6 years, whichever comes soonest.

584 posts · Joined 2009. #8 · Jul 6, 2014. I am the same , I would always change the belt and pump early, and as it's same belt that's on earlier engine, I would still stay by earlier recommendations. They also done this on the Clio 197 and 200. Same engine , different belt change interval.
